Professor Zbigniew Trybuła elected to the Council of Directors of Research Institutes PAS

Professor Zbigniew Trybuła has been elected to join the prestigious Council of Directors of Research Institutes PAS.

The Council of Directors is a permanent advisory body to the President of the Academy regarding matters of scientific units of the Academy. The Council deals with issues of a high importance for the functioning of the scientific units of the Polish Academy of Sciences. One of the members of the Council is Prof. Małgorzata Witko, who is also a member of the Scientific Council of IMP PAS.

We congratulate our Director and wish him many success and satisfaction from working for the Council of Directors.

Dr hab. Piotr Kuświk nominated to the Polish Intelligent Development Award 2020

Dr hab. Piotr Kuświk has been nominated to the Polish Intelligent Development Award 2020 in the category "Scientist of the Future” for his scientific project “Influence of the interlayer exchange bias coupling on prependicular anistropy of the ferromagnetic layer in ferromagnet/antifferomaget(ferrimagnet) systems” funded by the National Scientific Centre Poland.

Nominations to the Polish Intelligent Development Award are awarded to Intelligent Development leaders in their fields.

Professor Józef Barnaś chosen as a new ordinary member of PAS

During a 140th session of General Assembly PAS Professor Józef Barnaś has been selected as  a new full member of Polish Academy of Sciences.

Minister of Science and Higher Education’s prize

Dr hab. Konstantin Tretiakov, prof. IFM PAN has been awarded the prestige Minister of Science and Higher Education’s prize for a significant achievement in scientific, didactical, implementational or organizational activity, or for a lifetime achievements.

The prize has been awarded for a significant contribution to the theory of stochastic processes describing movements of normal and cancer cells – which is an another important step on the path to finding a cure for cancer.

We congratulate the laureate on his success!

New Miniatura 3 research grants

The National Science Centre Poland has announced that four of our researchers have been granted finances in MINIATURA 3 contest.

The grantees are dr Dorota Dardas, dr Magdalena Knapkiewicz (preliminary research), dr Arkadiusz Frąckowiak (scientific internship), and dr Łukasz Karwacki (research stay).

Krzysztof Ptaszyński’s article highlighted in Physics

The article "Entropy Production in Open Systems: The Predominant Role of Intra-Environment Correlations" by Krzysztof Ptaszyński and Massimiliano Esposito (University of Luxembourg) has been highlighted in Physics.

"Physics in an online magazine from the APS, that features news and commentary articles about papers from the Physical Review Journals that are of particularly broad interest. Physics regularly includes interviews with physicists and news stories on a variety of topics, as well as articles about the influence of physics on the arts."
